All Aboard for the Reunion

Your NCPS Board of Directors has chosen Nashville for our 2017 "Hands On 576" Reunion. Our Society was founded with the purpose of preserving and protecting NC&StL locomotive 576, but we could only dream of seeing this incredible example of steam power restored, under steam again, whistle moaning at crossings, bell dinging, and lashed to period passenger cars carry-ing us and our families down the line.

As one of the few of our members who actually saw, heard and felt the passing of 576 and her sisters, I rejoice that we may experience that joy again.

Several NCPS members have been and are involved with the Nashville Steam Preservation Society (NSPS) and its efforts to relocate, restore and return to operating condition 576 to pull excursion trains on the Nashville & Eastern Railroad. The NSPS is in fund-raising mode prior to moving 576 to the Tennessee Central Ry. Museum for display, restoration and excursion operations. The engine will be in Centen-nial Park during our weekend. Your Reunion Committee, with NSPS coop-eration, plans an educational opportunity for hands-on fun with tasks appro-priate to our skills and interests. We are planning a catered picnic to fuel our energies and perhaps a nap for those who run out of steam.

Of course, there are several places of NC&StL interest in Nashville to revisit, as well as model railroad delights. As always, Nashville 2017 promises a reunion of friends who share a connection to NC&StL history, heritage, equipment and memories that made "Grandpa's Road” run and flourish. Plan to bring your memorabilia, photos, family news, appetite, door prizes to donate, and happy smiles to Nashville 2017!

Detailed information on accommodations, schedules and registration will follow.
