NC&StL 100 finds a new home... » Sept. 16 - nearing the end...

Sunday, September 16 found Tom painting the engine while Maryann worked the depot. Terry's template worked great, and Tom managed to finish all the curved areas as well as most of the front. The goal was to have the engine painted by Polly Crockett Festival, and by the end of the two day extravaganza, 99% of the exterior painting is now complete. The engine still needs touchup on several areas and the cab interior still needs paint. The cab also needs to be secured (with a hasp and lock) so replacement gauges will not be destroyed when they are installed. We were unable to get the front engine (#1) started because it's losing its prime. Possibly a bad fuel line on the inlet side between the pump and the fuel tank. Something else to be worked on.
